Top 10 Bollywood movies of 2013

Gone are the days when producers become ecstatic when their movies cross the Rs 100 mark. While movies like Barfi, Ek Tha Tiger had entered the 100 crore club this year; Chennai Express, Krrish 3 has grabbed headlines by doing a business of nearly Rs 300 crore!

The year 2013 has gone quite well for Bollywood with several hits and many films performing well beyond expectation. Depending on the box office collection, here are the top 10 hit films of Bollywood:

Chennai Express: Chennai Express directed by Rohit Shetty is considered to be highest grossing film of 2013. With Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone sharing screen space, this romantic comedy did a business of approximately Rs 227 crore .

Krishh 3:  Directed by Rakesh Roshan, Hrithik starrer this sci-fi flick has given a tough competition to Chennai Express. According to some media reports, Krishh 3 has crossed the collection of Chennai Express.



Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: The film generated hype among masses due to the pairing up of ex-flames Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika. The film easily crossed the 100 crore mark and became one of the highest grossing films in the country.



Aashiqui 2Aashiqui 2 directed by Mohit Suri fell far short of the original film, but it turned the lead actors Aditya Ray Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor into stars as audience loved the idea of a girl surrendering fame in search of love.



Bhaag Milkha Bhaag: Based on the life of Milkha Singh, this film directed by Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra is definitely one of the top earners of 2013. The sterling performance by Farhan Akhtar and the plot attracted audience.  Besides garnering critical appreciation, this movie crossed Rs 100 crore mark easily.



Race 2:  Abbas Mustan directed ‘Race 2' became the first film of 2013 to enter the Rs 100 crore club. Though the plot was not easy to follow, the film easily crossed 100 crore mark.


Raanjhanaa:  Starring  Dhanush and Sonam, Raanjhanaa became a super-hit and joined the 100 crore club.

Special 26: Special 26, directed by Neeraj Pandey, is another well deserved hit of 2013. Akshay Kumar plays a real life con man and the fact that the film attracted audience even without item songs and suggestive scenes only emphasize the high quality of the plot.


Grand Masti:  A sequel to Masti, adult comedy Grand Masti' has crossed Rs 100 crore mark.



Ram-Leela: This movie is going strong and has crossed the 100 crore limit. The chemistry between Ranvir Singh and Deepika and Sanjay Leela Bhanshali’s direction have attracted more audience.


This list, however, contains the names of those flicks that have been released till November this year.

Film critics and viewers are now looking forward to the release of Yash Raj Film’s upcoming flick Dhoom 3 featuring Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan. Aamir will be seen as a baddie opposite Katrina Kaif, while Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will continue to reprise their roles. Releasing on December 20, Dhoom 3 is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya and produced by Aditya Chopra.
